Video footage circulating online captured the moment a fan appeared to attempt an attack on the UFC icon as he was leaving the venue.

Security personnel swiftly intervened, thwarting the assault and leaving the would-be attacker with bloodied injuries.

McGregor, wearing a green silk shirt, observed the scene and reacted with a shrug as security managed the situation.

Representatives for McGregor have been contacted for comments.

The Irishman is a co-owner of BKFC along with David Feldman.

His most recent appearance in the UFC octagon was in July 2021, where he sustained a severe leg injury during a fight against Dustin Poirier in the first round.

McGregor, aged 36, was scheduled to return in June 2024 for a match against Michael Chandler, 38, but withdrew due to a toe injury.

The former UFC champion has remained out of competition since then, and in November, he was found liable for the sexual assault of Nikita Hand, dating back to 2018.

McGregor has appealed against this verdict.

The controversial fighter has also been in the news recently for announcing his intentions to run for the Irish presidency in the upcoming elections later this year.

In March, he was a guest of former US President Donald Trump and shortly after, expressed uncertainty about his future in fighting.

McGregor stated that he has two fights remaining on his contract and is currently in negotiations.

“Last week something happened to me, I went to the White House and my heart bleeds for my country right now.”

“There is a lot of stuff going on back home. I am happy with what I have done. There is something else for me that is in my gut right now.”

“And that`s where we are going. We will see. Greatness don`t rush, and right now Ireland is in my thoughts. That`s where I am at.”

However, in a quick reversal, McGregor added: “My comeback will be slated as the greatest comeback or the biggest, most-anticipated comeback of all time.

“[But] right now Ireland is in my thoughts and that’s where I’m at. It will happen, I’m sure and it’s always great to be here and there you go.”
