World No. 10 Ben Shelton commented on the brief 70-second duration of his Wimbledon second-round match against Rinky Hijikata (6/2, 7/5, 6/4) after it resumed.
The match had been postponed yesterday with the score at 6/2, 7/5, 5/4. Shelton expressed dissatisfaction with this decision.
In an on-court interview, the American addressed the fans, saying: “It`s weird for me to play a match over two days and only come out here today for like… 55 seconds. I was hoping I`d be able to rip a couple more groundstrokes. I guess I`ll have to go hit on the practice courts.”
He added, “Sorry you guys didn`t really get to see any tennis.”
