World No. 20 Stefanos Tsitsipas has shared the story of how he first met fellow tennis player Paula Badosa.
Recalling their initial contact, Tsitsipas explained:
We first connected in Rome. I messaged her after she won a very tough battle. I watched the entire match on TV and really enjoyed it. I made a little deal with myself: if she won, I would text her. I stayed calm, I didn`t want to pressure her. I wanted to get to know her as a person, because it`s one thing to see her on television and another to meet her in person.
The Greek player also provided insights into their relationship, which began in 2023.
He added:
When you step away from the noise of sports and just connect with each other on a human level, everything takes on a different meaning. Our best moments, without a doubt, happen when we`re not on Tour. No pressure, no expectations, no people. It`s in these moments that we notice our relationship moving into a different dimension, a more peaceful and human form, where we both feel like we`re living our best life.
Speaking in an interview with the Greek publication `in`, Tsitsipas described the depth of his feelings.
This is the biggest love I have felt in my 26 years of life. For me, marriage in these situations feels very natural, without pressure about when or how. We give each other space if needed, but we never leave anything unresolved. We prefer dialogue over silence. There have been difficult moments, and they might happen again, but we are both ready to fight for the love we feel for each other.
