Today marks the 47th birthday of German tennis star Tommy Haas. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Tommy, wishing him robust health and continued success in all his future endeavors.
Thomas Mario Haas was born on April 3, 1978, in Hamburg, Germany, and began playing tennis at the age of four. His father, Peter, was a European Judo champion and classmate of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Tommy`s mother is Brigitta, and he has two sisters, Sabine and Karin.
At the age of 11, Tommy moved to Bradenton, Florida, to join Nick Bollettieri`s academy. During his youth, Boris Becker was Haas`s idol.
In 1995, Haas reached his highest junior ITF ranking at No. 11. The following year, he underwent ankle surgery, causing him to miss a significant portion of the season.
He turned professional in 1996. Over his career, Haas secured 15 ATP tournament titles, earning $13,609,987 in prize money.

Haas`s best Grand Slam performances include reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open (in 1999, 2002, and 2007) and Wimbledon (in 2009). In May 2002, the German player achieved his career-high ranking of world No. 2.
Haas was a regular player for the German Davis Cup team and won a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
In 2010, Haas became a U.S. citizen but continued to represent Germany in competitions.
In the same year, Haas married American actress Sara Foster. The couple has two daughters: Valentina and Josephine Lena. They announced their separation last year.

In his free time, Tommy enjoys spending time with family and friends and going to the cinema.
In March 2018, Haas officially announced his retirement from professional tennis. He currently serves as the tournament director in Indian Wells.
