The former President of the United States mentioned McGregor as one of his favorite Irish individuals.

During a meeting with Taoiseach Michael Martin, when asked about his favorite Irish person, Trump said “many” and then added, “I happen to like your fighter.”

“He’s got the best tattoos I’ve ever seen. Conor’s great, right?

“But you have a lot of great Irish fighters actually, great fighters.”

McGregor, a former two-division champion, was among the notable attendees at Trump’s inauguration in January.

McGregor expressed his support for Trump on social media, saying it was an honor to be in Washington DC for the event.

McGregor hasn’t competed in the UFC since July 2021, when he suffered a leg injury in a fight against Dustin Poirier.

His return to the octagon was anticipated, but a toe injury delayed his match with Michael Chandler.

Dana White, UFC president, initially suggested McGregor would return later in the year but has recently expressed uncertainty about McGregor’s future in UFC.

If McGregor returns to fighting, it will be his first match since being found civilly liable for an assault in Dublin in December 2018. McGregor has appealed the verdict.
