Jake Paul continues to face considerable criticism throughout his boxing career, and that trend shows no sign of slowing down.
Known as ‘The Problem Child’, Paul has frequently been at odds with prominent figures from the MMA world over the years, including a notable public dispute with UFC CEO Dana White.
The controversial personality is scheduled to return to the boxing ring on June 28 in Anaheim, California. His bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is set to take place head-to-head with UFC 317.
Leading up to this next fight, questions about his previously announced, now postponed, bout with Mike Tyson were naturally raised, as it was intended to be his most recent activity.
During an interview with Piers Morgan, Paul reportedly walked out after the two exchanged sharp remarks. This exit followed a comment questioning Paul`s ability to last against a prime Mike Tyson, and it has only served to attract further criticism for Paul.
UFC Veteran Michael Bisping Calls Jake Paul `Fake` and Dismisses His Next Fight
The interview with Piers Morgan took a negative turn when Morgan claimed Paul wouldn`t have lasted even 10 seconds against Mike Tyson in his prime.
Paul responded dismissively, indicating he cared little for Morgan’s show and was only there to promote pay-per-views before abruptly ending the call.
A video clip of Paul ending the call quickly circulated online, catching the attention of a former UFC champion known for his past critiques of the 28-year-old.
It comes as no surprise to see Michael Bisping speaking negatively about Paul. ‘The Count’ has previously accused the star of “preying” on older fighters who are past their athletic primes.
At one point, there were even discussions about a potential fight between Paul and Bisping, despite Bisping`s retirement from MMA being necessitated by significant vision loss in one eye.
Bisping recently posted a brief statement on social media, labeling Paul a “fake” and downplaying the significance of his upcoming boxing match.
“Biggest fake in the history of combat sports and no one gives a f— about this fight.”
Bisping`s Prior Comments on Jake Paul: Criticism Mixed with Business Acknowledgment
Prior to the announcement of Jake Paul`s highly debated fight against Mike Tyson, Michael Bisping, a former UFC middleweight champion, spoke about the core of his issues with the controversial fighter.
He previously stated in an interview that for ‘The Problem Child’ to earn genuine respect, he needs to face opponents who are on a more comparable level to his own.
However, Bisping did offer some credit regarding Paul`s success. He admitted that from a business standpoint, it`s difficult to deny that Paul and his team have expertly managed his career.
Bisping`s past remarks included: “Jake Paul, listen, I’ve got nothing personal against Jake Paul, but he just likes to attack the UFC, he likes to attack MMA fighters, all while cherry-picking guys that aren’t boxers. Go and box a boxer, go box a boxer or go and fight someone your own age. That’s all you got to do and, I will give you respect. As a businessman, he’s made a tremendous amount of money, and I applaud him for that because ultimately that’s what we’re all trying to do.”
