Undefeated Champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. Slams Jake Paul, Calling Him a ‘Scam’ and ‘Destroyer of the Sport’

Boxing news

Interim WBC super welterweight titleholder Vergil Ortiz Jr. has expressed strong disapproval of Jake Paul.

The YouTube personality turned boxer improved his professional record to 12-1 after securing a unanimous decision victory over former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. during Saturday night`s bout.

This win, which some consider a career highlight for Paul, has reportedly placed him within the WBA`s top 15 rankings in the cruiserweight division.

However, undefeated fighter Vergil Ortiz Jr., who boasts a 23-0 record, finds it hard to grasp why people continue to treat matchups like Paul vs Chavez Jr. with such seriousness.

Ortiz Jr. Slams Paul in Online Critique

On Sunday, Ortiz Jr. took to social media to share an extensive statement criticizing Paul`s boxing activities.

The 27-year-old also directed his comments towards those who watch and support Paul, arguing that he is `destroying the sport`.

“Jake Paul is deceiving the entire world with his spectacle fights,” Ortiz wrote.

“He presents them as genuine contests, yet the public keeps consuming them whole, only to then feel disappointed because the spectacle fights they paid for aren`t authentic.”

“He is unilaterally harming the sport, and others are allowing it to happen. People will keep covering and watching these spectacles, hoping against hope that *this* spectacle will finally be real.”

“Isn`t there a saying about doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome?”

“You have to admire Jake Paul for maintaining this deception for so long and for still having everyone convinced.”

Jake Paul Challenges Multiple Opponents After Win

Despite the strong objections from Ortiz Jr., Jake Paul is expected to compete in another significant boxing match later this year.

The identity of his next opponent is currently unknown, as he named several potential challengers following his victory over Chavez Jr.

“I desire more challenging opponents. I aim to become a world champion,” Paul stated in his post-fight interview.

“Zurdo [Gilberto Ramirez] appeared sluggish tonight; that would also be straightforward work.

“Badou Jack, I want everybody.

“Anthony Joshua, Gervonta [Davis], and Tommy [Fury], cease avoiding me.”

Paul had a confrontation with Gilberto Ramirez behind the scenes after their potential world title contest emerged as a genuine prospect.

It remains uncertain who is the leading candidate as Paul searches for his next high-profile adversary.
