Viktor Yanchuk on Daniil Medvedev’s Recent Performance and Future Prospects

Sport news

Honored Russian coach Viktor Yanchuk has shared his thoughts on the recent dip in form of Daniil Medvedev. Following the Miami Masters tournament, Medvedev is set to fall out of the Top 10 rankings.

According to Yanchuk, “It`s simply a consequence of the ranking system at this moment. Both Rublev and Medvedev are currently underperforming, not playing at their peak. While Rublev managed to secure a tournament win, Medvedev hasn`t yet. However, I am confident that Daniil will bounce back; he is currently experiencing a prolonged period of decline.”

Yanchuk added, “Considering Grand Slam events, Medvedev`s chances of victory are diminished but not nonexistent. If he reaches his optimal condition, ATP tournaments are certainly within his capabilities. He still possesses significant potential and the necessary skills. It would be premature to dismiss him.”

Evgeny Kafelnikov: Medvedev and Rublev need to work three times harder than before. In my opinion, neither Daniil nor Andrey demonstrates this level of commitment.
