Respected Russian coach Vladimir Kamelzon has shared his thoughts on the recent partnership between Andrey Rublev and Marat Safin, a two-time Grand Slam champion.
Kamelzon stated, “Everyone is talking about the new alliance between Safin and Rublev. When I learned about it, I immediately thought it was a very positive step. Rublev has been struggling to consistently perform at a higher level, and his team hasn`t been able to fully address this. He reached the world number four ranking briefly, but then his position fluctuated, remaining within the top ten but without further significant breakthroughs. I believe Marat Safin has a strong chance to help Rublev achieve better results and solidify his place in the top echelon of tennis. I think this collaboration will be beneficial. Safin`s experience and authority are valuable assets, and Rublev needs to recognize and leverage them.”
Safin has joined Rublev`s team for the clay court season. Andrey is scheduled to compete against French player Gael Monfils in the second round of the Masters tournament in Monte Carlo.
