Respected Russian coach Vladimir Kamelzon commented on Daniil Medvedev`s defeat to Jaume Munar in the second round of the Miami Masters, where he lost 2-6, 3-6.
Kamelzon stated, “Medvedev is already 29 years old, not a child, but a seasoned professional with significant achievements and, most importantly, a unique playing style. He is a unique individual with a dedicated team that has worked effectively with him, as evidenced by his results. It`s hard to say what`s happening with him now without being directly involved in the process – what`s working, what`s not, and what might be bothering him. However, at 29, not 39, his team will identify the reasons, and the situation will improve. We will see Medvedev playing at a high level again.”
“I believe that Daniil will return to his former top positions. No one plays quite like him. His playing style is difficult to overcome. If he is experiencing a slump, in my opinion, it is purely psychological. I`ve been sent videos and seen how he trains, so it`s not about his physical condition,” Kamelzon was quoted by `Championship`.
