Football legend Alan Shearer recounted a highly amusing tale concerning a travel nightmare suffered by his daughter`s boyfriend on his way to the London Marathon.
Yesterday, Shearer`s son, Will, aged 24, successfully ran the demanding 26.2-mile route through the capital.

Will received support from his entire family during the event, including his dad Alan, mum Lainya, and his sisters Chloe and Hollie.
Shearer`s eldest daughter, Chloe, 31, is in a relationship with former rugby player Micky Young. Micky also intended to travel to London after watching Newcastle`s 3-0 win against Ipswich on Saturday.
However, Young was scheduled to catch the 5:59 PM train but ended up making a significant mistake.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football Podcast, Shearer narrated the incident: “He got to the station five minutes early, he got on the train and then he heard the announcement, `Welcome to everyone heading to Edinburgh`.”
The train proceeded non-stop all the way to Edinburgh. Micky then urgently checked alternative travel options such as flights or driving.
In the end, he resorted to taking the 10 PM Mega Bus, paying £30 for the journey from Edinburgh back to London.
He finally reached London at 6:45 AM the following morning.
Shearer humorously remarked to Micky, “And you are meant to be looking after my f***ing daughter in the future?”
Alan also highlighted the numerous stops the bus made, adding, “It stopped at Dunbar, Leeds and Sheffield. Oh you idiot.”
The comical story reportedly left the podcast co-hosts, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards, in fits of laughter.
Will successfully completed the London Marathon, running to raise funds for the Alan Shearer Foundation. He finished the race in approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Shearer posted a proud message to his son on Instagram, writing: “Time for a well earned beer… you smashed it. Proud of you running for the foundation. Thank you.”
Micky Young is a retired professional rugby union player. He played scrum half for several clubs, including Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers, and Bath.
